MAN, Oron Board Chairman Commends Tinubu, Oyetola For Academy’s Development Plan Approval

The Governing Council Chairman, of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron Akwa Ibom state, Engr Kehinde Olayinka Akinola, at the academy’s 3rd Quarter 2025 Citizens and Stakeholders’ Engagement held at the academy auditorium stated that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue economy, has set a clear direction for policy articulation, delivery and partnership with citizens as well as enabled policy clarity and support for institutions. Engr Kehinde Olayinka Akinola, who Commended President Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and blue economy, Adegboyega Oyetola for Academy’s Five-Year Development Plan’s Approval noted that the comprehensive Five-Year Strategic Development Plan for the Academy, is a strategic blueprint that is expected to accelerate institutional reforms, enhance training standards, deepen industry linkages, and reposition the Maritime industry.

He described the Maritime Academy of Nigeria as among the very best maritime training institutions in West and Central Africa and avered that the Council is proud to be part of the transformation process. According to him,
“within the 1st Quarter of this year and within about 6 months of the Governing Council, the Management was provided policy guidance to complete the development of Staff Conditions and Scheme of Service for the Staff of the Academy, for the first time since Its establishment in 1977”.

Engr Kehinde Olayinka Akinola, also noted
“when we came energy supply was low but with the support of the federal government through the federal ministry of Marine and Blue economy, electricity supply not only increased, both the academy and the host community have been connected to national grid. In addition to this, the hostels for male and female cadets have been connected to solar system” he stated.

While thanking the Honourable Minister for his support and the Acting Rector, Dr. Kevin Okonna as well as Management of the academy for their diligence, he noted that the President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda emphasis on accountability and delivery has inspired the maritime academy Council’s proactive approach to ensuring that the Academy plays its rightful part in national development especially in the areas of seafarers education.
