Okowa former Commissioner’s wife orders Police to lock up Journalist
The wife of immediate past Commissioner and Attorney- General for Justice, Delta State Joan Onyeamechi Mrakpor, who is the present Director General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency,has on friday 18th June 2021 ordered the immediate arrest of a journalist Linus Okolo, an Assistant Editor with South South International, an Investigative publication that was established in 2006 to bring public officials accountable to the public amongst other social responsibility functions of the media.

This arrest of our Reporter is coming hours after Linus Okolo, placed a request call to Mrs Mrakpor yesterday requesting for her response to an Investigative story that our eporter, which concerns Mrs Joan Onyeamechi Mrakpor, Director General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
In a phone chat with SP Dimka of Eagle net dept, Police headquarters, Asaba he confirmed to this Reporter that our Reporter was actually in their custody following a petition written against the Journalist by Mrs Mrakpor and ordering for his Immediate arrest .According to him, the petition is on defamation of character.
As at press time the south-south International magazine’s reporter Linus Okolo is still at the police custody . Meanwhile, when the PPRO of Delta State was called, his phone was not connecting same with the CP, Delta State.
How the matter will end is still unknown but why would a public officer paid with tax payers money arrest a Journalist for carrying out his social responsibility is one question crying for answer
