Armed Policemen Invade MMS Plus Editor’s Office Over Dangote Refinery News Story

Four armed policemen in the early hours of today invaded the headquarters of Kings Communications Limited, publishers of MMS Plus newspaper in an attempt to accost the Editor-in-Chief of MMS Plus, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke and the Editor of MMS Plus, Mr. Kenneth Jukpor over a story published on possible take over of Dangote refinery by AMCON owing to increasing debts . Sources told South South International that after staying for hours they arrested one Staff of MMS plus newspaper.

A statement signed by Kingsley Anaroke noted that the seige by the police was a follow-up to a earlier threats made by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina at the weekend.

According to the Editor of MMS Plus newspaper, Mr Chiejina had threatened to deal with the editorial leadership of the news outfit via legal action following the news story titled “AMCON May Take Over Dangote Refinery As Liabilities Swell” written by the media house Reporter and published last week

Anaroke further stated that after several failed attempts to get him to pull down the story, the Dangote spokesman threatened him instead of writing a rejoinder or taking legal action against the media house and went further to send four policemen to beseige the headquarters of Kings Communications Limited in Festac, Lagos
.
The police men on arrival asked for keys to the personal office of the Editor -in-Chief and when they could not gain access to Anaroke’s office, they arrested a staff.
As at press time the arrested staff was yet to gain freedom. Meanwhile Anaroke said he had to issue a press statement to draw the attention of the global press to the plight of Journalists who refused to be gagged
