WISTA Celebrates The Appointments of Two Female Maritime Leaders
The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, today celebrates the appointments of two distinguished women leaders in the maritime industry namely Madam Jemilat Mahamah who was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Ghana Maritime Authority while Ms. Iroghama Ogbeifun was appointed a Board Member of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
In a statement signed by Dr Odunayo Ani, President, WISTA, Nigeria, she described
Madam Mahamah’s appointment as a pivotal moment for Ghana and the wider maritime community. Furthermore, Dr Odunayo described Mahamah as a symbol of visionary leadership and dedicated to service. According to her, the appointment of Mahamah brings pride to WISTA Ghana, WISTA Africa, and the global WISTA network. “We are immensely proud of Madam Mahamah’s achievement, as her leadership promises bold reforms and strategic progress for Ghana’s maritime sector.” Dr. Odunayo Ani, President of WISTA Nigeria noted.
The WISTA, Nigeria, president equally, described Ms. Iroghama Ogbeifun’s appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as a testament to Ms Ogbeifun’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s maritime industry both as Chief Executive Officer of Starzs Investments as well as a long-standing supporting member of WISTA Nigeria, According to WISTA president, the inclusion of Ms. Ogbeifun, on the NIMASA Board reflects the growing impact of female leadership in shaping maritime governance. Furthermore, she described her appointment as a powerful affirmation of women’s capacity to lead and transform the industry.
WISTA Nigeria according to Dr Ani regards both appointments as victories for inclusive leadership and gender representation across West Africa’s maritime landscape. A milestone she says reinforce the association’s commitment to advancing women’s leadership and fostering collaboration across the West region and the Africa continent.
