Urhobo Clergyman in House of Representatives Joins Deputy Speaker’s Race

Rev. Francis Waive,  a member, representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu Federal Constituency of Delta State, in the House of Representatives, has joined the race for the office of the Deputy Speaker in the 10th National Assembly (NASS).

In a notice to the 10th Assembly House Members-elect, Waive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said his aspiration, aside overriding competence and capacity to deliver, would be driven by equity and fairness.

In his notice of intent, he said, “I believe the 10th Assembly deserves a leadership sensitive to the needs of members and serves all without any discrimination. I believe in the equality of members, in equal opportunities both on the floor and in committee.

“I offer to serve you as Deputy Speaker (if zoned to the South South), that I will be easily accessible, help our esteemed first timers quickly find their footing, and carry everyone along during our tenure.

“Those who know me personally in the current 9th Assembly have described me as calm, cool and collected. My antecedents have always been that of service to humanity.

“As our induction and inauguration ceremonies draw near, I am available to interact with you personally and privately at your convenience. He noted

Waive it would be recalled was deployed to Lagos State for his National Youth Service Corps. He completed his NYSC with Oceanic Bank PLC now known as Ecobank Nigeria. He resigned several years later from the bank having decided to become a minister of the Gospel of Christ. He relocated to Warri, Nigeria to start the Church of the Anointing in 1997. He was elected in the 9th National Assembly as a member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu federal constituency. He was Vice Chairman, Power Committee in the House of Representatives.
