Rice In China, But Declared as Yeast in Nigeria
Everybody wanted to see the imported rice that was declared as yeast by an importer. In the past those with inside knowledge say the 31 containers would have been cleared without any obstacle. But the era according to ACG Charles Edike who is the Zonal Coordinator has long pass. It was therefore not a surprise that two Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, DCG Dan Ugo and DCG Iyal Umar in company of ACG Charles Edike were in Tin Can to brief maritime journalists on the seizure of the 31 containers containing 14,000 bags of rice. DCG, Ugo while briefing journalist said the 31 containers containing 14,000 bags of rice was brought in from China manifested and declared as yeast by the importer named Destiny Limited.
