League of Maritime Editors Elects New Officers recently to run the association

Thursday August 18th was a day that most journalists and stakeholders in the maritime sector looked forward to especially because the League of Maritime Editors an association whose members have reported the maritime beat for almost three decades and pioneers of maritime journalism in Nigeria, would be holding election to elect new executive to steer the ship of the association and everyone was expectant.
By 12noon of August 18 the members of the exclusive association for editors and publishers who have use their various media groups to publicly inform, educate, entertain, set agenda for policy makers as well as influenced many youths given the large number of persons that read their write-ups and publications, sat down and after few deliberations and review of the two years stewardship of the Ovie Edomi- led executive, the ball was set rolling for the election of new set of people that will stir the ship for the next two years.
The election which was conducted by Shola Fadeyi, saw the emergence of Editor-in-Chief of the South South International Magazine, Deacon Ovie Edomi, as President.
Edomi it would be recalled has practised journalism for more than two decades, during which he worked with The Mail, Punch and TELL Magazine before establishing South South International Magazine. He is also the Publicity secretary of the association of Communication Scholars and Professionals.
Also elected as Vice President is Remi Itie, Editor-in-Chief of Pathways Africa. Itie has also been practicing journalism for more than three decades and her magazine which is widely read specialises in general transport and allied business.
The Publisher of MMS Newspaper, Mr Kingsley Anaroke, was elected as the Secretary General of the association while Evang. Mazi Tony Ohakwe, Publisher of the Maritime Voice Newspaper was returned as the Treasurer of the Association.
Other elected members are the Editor-in-Chief of Shipping Day, an online newspaper and former Group News Editor/ Online Editor of Thisday Newspapers, Mr. Francis Ugwoke, who was elected as the new Public Relations Officer of the group and Shola Mekusi, Publisher of Maritime Watch, who was returned as the League
