Delta State’s two time Commissioner, Olorogun Barr. Fred Majemite has congratulated his peace loving Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on his victory at the Apex Court at the weekend.
Welcoming the Apex court’s verdict as a healthy development for the state, Majemite said in Abuja while talking with Journalists, that he applauds the Apex Court judges for upholding the mandate of Deltans.
Majemite commended the Apex Court judges for sustaining the judgements of the Election Tribunal as well as that of the Appeallate court. According to him ” This judgement of the Supreme Court is in tandem with the previous judgements and it is a win for all progressive and well meaning Deltans across the state and beyond. The Supreme Court verdict brings to an end, the legal tussle over the governorship of Delta State and we give God praise for His faithfulness. I must commend the judges of the Apex Court and indeed the judiciary for doing justice to the matter. Once again, on behalf of my family, the good people of Ughelli Kingdom and people of Delta, I congratulate my peace loving Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on this very reassuring and wonderful victory.
Furthermore, Majemite added that the judgement of the court was a victory not only for Deltans but also for the nation’s democracy and a reaffirmation of the unbiased role of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Delta Governorship election.
Majemite noted that for the Governor to have won 21 of the 25 local government areas garnering 260,234 votes compared to the four councils won by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in its 240,229 votes; hence it would have been difficult for the victory pendulum to have swung to another political party. Besides, Majemite noted that the PDP campaigned in every community and ward in Delta state with the M.O.R.E agenda as the campaign message, a development that endeared the Governor to the masses”
Majemite called on the governor to continue to deliver the devidends of democracy to the people of Delta State via the M.O.R.E agenda and revolutionise the state for all Deltans and visitors to begin to see a new Delta State with more opportunities for growth and progress.
