CAN Chairman, Archbishop Avwomakpa Warns Nigeria Leaders Against Lies, Killings
Worried by the continuous killing of innocent persons by Herdsmen, the Boko Haram agenda followed by the huge lies and hate speeches that are being promoted within Nigeria and the international media, Archbishop Goddowell Avwomakpa Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, South South zone who is also the President of Niger Delta Bishops Forum yesterday in Warri, Delta State stated that though prayers are being offered in Nigeria by different clerics and believers, God is angry with those leaders who are paid to tell lies in the land as well as those who are killing God’s people across Nigeria under the guise of crisis when in actual fact,they are pursuing an agenda.
According to the Archbishop and leader of CAN in South South geographical zone, ” The situation that Nigeria finds herself requires the nation’s leaders to ask the citizens whose sons or daughters have been killed or hurt for forgiveness. Besides, he noted that while Christians need to pray without ceasing, men of courage also need to speak up otherwise evil will continue to dominate the land. He also called on those in leadership position to realise that Abel died before his blood spoke to God. Similarly, the Cleric stated that those who were killed innocently by Herdsmen or Boko Haram insurgents are crying for vengence from their graves. He therefore called on the federal government to tender apology to the families of those killed across Nigeria and order the Army and Police to ensure law and order as well as protect the lives and properties of the citizens while Men of God should pray.
He warned that since the blood of people that were killed innocently across Nigeria are speaking against the land the time to seek forgiveness and peace is now even as we fervently pray Nationwide.
He however warned believers and those paid to tell lies and are happy to do it, that judgement day is near and it will begin with them. The CAN leader therefore called on those who thrive in lies, killings and crimes to expect God wrath soon if they fail to repent. He charge them to apologise now to Nigerians.
According to him “Every father that wants his children to emulate him must speak the truth at all times and lead by examples. Also, those painting a different picture to the President must be careful because God is set to remove them from their positions unless they repent and seek peace and progress of the citizens”
Furthermore he noted “We need men like Jerry Gana who told PDP that they were wrong in most of their ways, which led the party to apologise to Nigerians, in all the political parties so that our political parties and their leaders can get it right before we choose from amongst those jostling to rule Nigeria come 2019. Until we get it right politically,spiritually and economically
the comity of nations would continue to lament what has befallen the giant of Africa6Africa”, Avwomakpa noted
