Beware of Fake Vehicles Documentation Agents Around You

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation recently said that it has noticed that some unscrupulous individuals are issuing fake vehicle documents like roadworthiness certificates and other vehicle particulars to unsuspecting motorists across the state.

 

In a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the ministry condemned this practise and warned that any vehicle document issued outside official channels is invalid and constitutes a serious offence.

 

According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Transportation, “The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has noticed that some unscrupulous individuals are issuing fake vehicle documents like roadworthiness certificates and other vehicle particulars to unsuspecting motorists across the state.

 

“The Ministry strongly condemns this fraudulent practice and wishes to state unequivocally that vehicle documentation is a statutory function carried out only by duly authorised agencies of the Ministry. Any document issued outside these official channels is invalid and constitutes a serious offense.

 

“Motorists are hereby advised to desist from patronizing unauthorized individuals or groups for vehicle documentation, as doing so not only endangers public safety but also exposes them to legal consequences.

 

“The Ministry assures the public that in collaboration with security agencies, enforcement operations have been intensified to apprehend those involved in this illegal activity. Anyone caught engaging in such acts will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

 

“Members of the public are encouraged to verify the authenticity of service providers before engaging them and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.”

 

LAGOS TASKFORCE HITS HARD ON STREET URCHINS “OMOTAKU”*

 

As part of the Lagos State Taskforce clean-up enforcement operations and commitment to rid the State of criminal elements and street urchins popularly known as Omotaku, who terrorise Lagos motorists, thereby forcing them to part with their hard-earned money, especially whenever their vehicles develop mechanical faults on the road, the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, noted that the Taskforce has proactively taken the bull by the horns and risen to the challenge by suppressing the activities of Omotaku across the Lagos metropolis, in order to create a safe, serene, and secure Lagos of our dreams.

 

 

 

According to Akerele, in January, 2026

the Agency effected the arrest of several Omotaku during its sustained enforcement onslaught against street urchins who had, before now, constituted a nuisance on major roads and highways across different parts of the Lagos metropolis.

 

For instance, the areas visited during the week-long operations included Bourdillon, Lekki Phase 1, Ikoyi, Lekki–Ajah Expressway, Animashahun.busstop,.Akowonjo road,Egbeda, Fadeyi bus stop, Costain, Funsho Williams Avenue, Victoria Island, Apongbon, Jibowu, Yaba Phase 1, Lagos Island Palmgrove, Ojuelegba road, Surulere and other adjoining roads on both Island and Mainland where the presence of undesirable elements popularly known as Omotaku and other street urchins have been observed.

 

During the week-long raid exercise, a total of 281 suspects were arrested, and all suspects have since been arraigned in court.

Akerele admonished Lagosians, particularly motorists, to promptly reach out to the Lagos State Taskforce whenever Omotaku or other street urchins constitute a nuisance within their vicinity.

Meanwhile, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem Director, Public Affairs Lagos State Taskforce ask Lagosians to always

call 09137555111 or 09138555111 for swift response in case they notice activities of street urchins around their area.

Akerele, equally warned those engaged in criminal activities to desist, stating that crime is not a career.
