This is sequel to a peace meeting between the Senator representing Delta South Senatorial district, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, and Hon. Prince Michael Diden, popularly known as Ejele.
On August 16, Senator Onowakpo led a high-powered delegation of APC leaders and stakeholders to Diden’s residence as part of renewed efforts to resolve the lingering differences and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation included the Delta South APC Senatorial District Chairman, Prince Emmam Amgbaduba; Chief of Staff to the Delta State Government, Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo; chairmen of the APC across the eight local government areas in the district; and other prominent party leaders, including Sir Mike Ogwa and Arc. (Dcn.) Ambby Okuhor.
The meeting, which was seen by party supporters as a significant step towards reconciliation, focused on restoring unity, resolving outstanding differences and consolidating the APC’s political structure in the senatorial district.
At the meeting, Diden reportedly pledged to withdraw the court case he instituted against Senator Onowakpo, signalling his readiness to end the legal dispute and embrace reconciliation within the party.
He also pledged to work with the senator and mobilise his supporters across Delta South for the success of the APC and its senatorial candidate in the forthcoming elections.
The development has elicited excitement among party members in the district, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the rapprochement would strengthen the APC and improve its electoral prospects in 2027.
The reconciliation is also expected to unite the different tendencies within the party and foster greater cohesion as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections. The Delta South APC Senatorial District Chairman, Prince Emmam Amgbaduba said the meeting was a major breakthrough as 2027 elections will now be a collective effort towards getting the electorate to vote over whelming for the APC in Delta State.Time will tell.
