NUJ Warri Sympathizes with Poultry farmers in Delta State

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Warri Correspondents’ Chapel has sympathised with poultry farmers across Delta State that are affected by bird Avain lnfluza other wise known as bird flu.

In a communique issued at the end of the chapel congress held on Tuesday, August 31 at the Chapel’s secretariat, Warri and signed by Comrade Okies Veeky, Chairman and Dele Fasan, Secretary, the Union sympathises with poultry farmers especially Lawal Iyanda Farms, Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government, Oghenejename Farms in Ekrerhavwe in Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA and other affected farms in Delta State

The NUJ also sympathises with poultry managers and workers whose job may have been affected by the epidemic that destroyed poultry farms in the state.

The Union expresses fear that the ,epidemic may lead to food crisis that can further worsened food shortages across the state and by extension increase in the prices of food items in the country.

The Union therefore called on the Delta State government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to come to the rescue of the affected poultry farmers. The Union also called on well meaning Nigerians, corporate organizations to help ameliorate the sufferings of the poultry farmers.
