2015 election and stability in a democratic order

The question of a stable democratic order has seized the imagination of the scholar, journalist and sundry commentators, especially in Africa. Nigeria is emblematic. Often in this democracy, we swagger about inflating our population as the biggest democracy traversing a mammoth swathe of real estate. We have an exaggerated sense of our being just as we have an outsize sense of our democracy. Everything about us defies any contest with reality. Our bluster is large. Our oil is large. Our ego is large. Our sqandermania is large. Our vulgarity is large. Our bombasts are large. Even larger is the sophisticated vanity of our so-called political ambassadors, our elected elite who represent us in the shopping malls abroad with credit cards that have no statute of limitation.
